Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has weighed in on a Daily Nation headline claimed Deputy President William Ruto refused to meet McDonald Mariga's campaign leader.
Murkomen doubled down on his onslaught on the publication, saying that it is joining the ranks of the gutter press.
He contended that Daily Nation was losing its credentials as a leader in the pursuit of truth and objective reporting.
"For many years the Nation was considered a leader in pursuit of truth &for balanced&objective reporting. This was partly because of its foreign ownership. Of late it has degenerated so fast towards gutter press. What happened? Did the Aga Khan sell their shares to partisan players?" The Senate Majority leader said on Saturday
Murkomen's blistering tweet on Saturday came just a day after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Imran Okoth was officially declared the winner of the by-election.
The blistering tweet is the latest in a series of hard-hitting tweets against the Daily Nation that the DP Ruto-backing senator has fired.
A few days ago, he lashed out at the paper for carrying a headline that claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP Ruto were fighting for the control of Parliament.
Murkomen hit back and said that there were no supremacy wrangles between the head of state and his deputy.
