Popular Citizen TV news anchor Yvonne Okwara has opened up on how Eliud Kipchoge's historic achievement in Vienna, Austria lightened up her family during her late brother's memorial.
According to Yvonne Okwara, her family members went to the extend of delaying her brother's memorial just so as to celebrate Kipchoge's historic record where he became the first man to run a full marathon in less than 2 hours.
The news anchor further appreciated Eliud Kipchoge for bringing happiness to her family during a hard time. Yvonne was narrating to her colleagues on Citizen TV's news gang show.
“On Saturday, October 12, we had a memorial for my brother by the graveside. We were there with our phones to monitor Eliud Kipchoge’s race, we had literally delayed the service which was supposed to start at 11 am, the same time as Kipchoge’s moon-landing moment,” Okwara stated.
It was however not just Yvonne Okwara's family which was lightened up by the historic achievement which made every Kenyan proud.
"There was another family at the other graveside. They came by our side to celebrate then went off to pray. What shocked me was that they never prayed at all,” Yvonne Okwara narrated.
Kipchoge's victory was celebrated not just in Kenya but across the world.
