A women representative has warned leaders out to frustrate Deputy President William Ruto's State House bid to do so at their own risk.
Purity Wangui Ngirici (Kirinyaga County, Jubilee) said on Friday the agreement between the people of Rift Valley and those from Central Kenya is clear- that voters from Mt Kenya region vote for Ruto in 2022 as he takes his first stab at the presidency.
Ngirici was speaking in Eldoret town during an event where High School and Primary School girls received sanitary towels.
She said the 2013 agreement between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Ruto still stands and does not expect Central Kenya voters to ditch the DP when 2022 comes.
"As far as I know it's Ruto in 2022. That is the arrangement and those out to revise this agreement are standing on their own," she said as she addressed the press alongside Uasin Gishu Women Representative Gladys Boss Shollei.
There have been claims that some leaders from Central Kenya have began to sideline Ruto ahead of 2022.
The allegations emerged following the March 9 meeting between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition chief Raila Odinga at Uhuru's Harambee House office where the two agreed to work together in uniting the country that was sharply divided along tribal and regional lines after the August 8 and October 26 repeat polls.
Ruto has been busy traversing the country, including Central Kenya, bolstering his support and reaching out to like-minded leaders who he expects to support his presidential bid in 2022.
The Kikuyu Council of Elders two days ago told Ruto to retire from politics in 2022.
