A politician has opposed remarks made by COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli alluding that Deputy President William Ruto's name will not be in the ballot in the 2022 presidential polls.
Jubilee youth leader Isaac Motari, speaking at Matongo shopping center on Monday evening in Bomariba, termed Atwoli's remarks baseless.
"It is important Atwoli to know that no one will deny DP Ruto his right to vie for president in 2022 because Kenyans will decide whether to vote for him or not," he stated.
According to Mr Motari, Ruto's presidential ambition should not scare anyone since he will have to compete for the position with others.
"I want to confirm that Ruto will compete with every presidential aspirant to win presidency. Being a Deputy President doesn't mean he will be the next president automatically in 2022," he added.
He further stated that Ruto may not be defeated easily in 2022 since he has been going round the country to seek support.
The vocal politician said Jubilee party is focused to clinch presidency in 2022. Dr Ruto has been traversing Gusii region where he hopes to dislodge former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who enjoys massive following from the region.
