The county boss stated it was in gross violation of human rights that KDF officers attacked locals of Ruqa, linking them to an incident where a Kenya Red Cross vehicle was attacked.

In a social media statement, Korane faulted the KDF for rounding up locals and beating them up.

"I condemned the violations meted against the locals by security forces in the name of fighting terror. I expressed shock at their brutal response to a recent attack on a Kenya Red Cross vehicle in Ruqa area by unknown assailants in which the community were rounded up and beaten," Governor Korane issued.

On Saturday, a Kenya Red Cross vehicle was attacked enroute Masalani from Ijara to conduct an assessment on a project that the humanitarian agency was implementing in the sub-county.

One volunteer was seriously wounded but three others survived unhurt in the attack.
