Likoni MP Mishi Mboko has asked Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho to stand firm.
She asked the governor not to be swayed over Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid, saying he (Joho) has what it takes to be Kenya's president.
According to Mboko, Joho has supporters countrywide and Ruto's frequent trips to the Coast region do not worry him.
She slammed Ruto for allegedly discussing Joho whenever he visits the region, saying he should be discussing development issues.
"How can a whole leader pitch camp in this region to discuss Joho instead of addressing unemployment, cancer scourge and food security?" said Mboko.
Speaking during the opening of a maternal high dependency unit at the Coast General Provincial Hospital (CPGH), the ODM lawmaker slammed fellow ODM coastal MPs who have declared their support for Ruto, saying they do not worry Joho.
"Joho has supporters countrywide. The presidency does not belong to a particular person. Mr Joho, don’t mind them just work," she said on Monday.
