A number of Ruto's allies have faulted the ongoing crackdown on graft suspects, saying that it seems to target members of a specific community.

However, according to Murathe, this is a technique to protect Ruto's tribesmen and allies from the law, wondering why they are the only ones complaining.

He claimed that most of the people in the DP's camp are corrupt and are involved in illegal dealings hence the complaints, adding that most of them are 'prison candidates'.

"If you hear majority of these guys talking. They know the President's determination in the fight and against corruption.

"They know that most of them are candidates for prison because people living in glass houses don't throw stones," he said on Sunday.

The former Gatanga lawmaker was speaking in an interview on KTN News, only hours after issuing his resignation following a week of exchanges with Ruto's lieutenants.

He accused the group of selfishness and insincerity in its alleged calls for reasonable handling of graft suspects.

Murathe noted that most of the people arraigned are in fact from the Kikuyu community.

He wondered why they only feel the pinch when their people are being prosecuted and arraigned in line with the combat on corruption.

"Unfortunately, that is the narrative they have been giving. If you look at the number of people arraigned in court on [the] Kenya Power [issues], the majority are Kikuyu only that the top were Kalenjins.

"Maina, the Kenya Railways boss is Kikuyu, if you look at Mwangi who is arraigned for NHIF is Kikuyu. Nobody talks about it," he added.

This comes amid an ongoing exchange between Murathe and the rival side after he called for the DP's retirement.

He has even vowed to move to the Supreme Court to block Ruto from vying for the presidency come 2022.
