Olympic Marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge on Saturday was gifted Isuzu Single Cabin worth Sh4.1 million following his impressive performance during the INEOS challenge in Vienna, Austria.
The athlete could not hide his joy after the Isuzu World chairman Eisaku Akazawa travelled from Japan to present him with the gift after he made history. The athlete received the automobile during a colourful event held at the Karura Forest.
Kipchoge, who is known for his humble nature, was accompanied by his entire family. He was also accompanied by his training partner Geoffrey Kamworor and coach Patrick Sang.
Kipchoge and the other 200 participants took part in a 4-kilometre race at the forest before he was presented with the gift.
In his speech, he asked the youngsters to embrace hard work and never give up on their dreams.
“Even the Bible says you only reap what you sow,” said Kipchoge, as quoted by Nation.
The reward came after he set a new world record after he ran a marathon in less than 2 hours. The automobile had a customized number plate of KCW 159V to represent the time and place where the race was undertaken.
The athlete continues to sail through moments of glory after the marathon. He is the first man to run a marathon in less than 2 hours in the history of the world.
