The end of a relationship can be heartbreaking and sad for anyone.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

You find yourself reminiscing all the awesome memories you shared with your ex, and this could be distressing.

They say time is a healer, but until then, you need to work hard on forgetting about your ex.

How do you do it? Here are seven ways to stop thinking about your ex:

1. Don’t stalk your ex

It’s normal to feel the need to stalk your ex because you want to know what they are doing, or who they are with.

Stalking your ex will only make you feel sad and more heartbroken.

If you find yourself in this situation, always try to keep yourself busy.

2. Meet up with friends often

While in the relationship, you might have given your ex more time than your friends and family which is a normal thing because of the excitement of the relationship.

Take this time to reestablish your bond with your family and friends. This will help you get over those negative feelings.

3. Accept

Acceptance is the first step to healing.  If one door closes, then another one opens, so let bygones be bygones.

Doing this opens up the opportunity to make new memories and meet new people.

It might take time to accept fully, but you will get there eventually.

4. Treat yourself

Rewarding yourself is an excellent idea because at that moment you are likely to feel like no one loves you, and this could not be far from the truth.

Learn to love yourself again and rediscover yourself. Try new things and step out of your comfort zone.

5. Surround yourself with positive people

Everyone needs positive energy every day. Be open-minded and do things that make you happy and teach yourself how to eradicate negative energy.

6. Don’t blame yourself

Nobody wants to be in a relationship only to break up after a short time.

Everyone relishes stability, particularly in love matters.

Don’t blame yourself; things happen for a reason.

Blaming yourself will only make you lose your self-worth.

Accept the fact that the relationship is over and move forward.

7. No contact

Contacting your ex will only make things worse because you end up being frustrated.

Staying away from your ex is the first step to healing.

After some time, you will have forgotten their contacts, and this is a good sign that you have moved on.
