Garissa Township MP Aden Duale has urged security agents to expedite the rescue operation of an Italian aid worker Silvia Romano.
Duale says that security agents are taking long to rescue the aid worker who was kidnapped on November 20 last year in Chakama village, Kilifi County.
Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town on Monday, Duale said that it is unfortunate that two months after Romano was kidnapped by armed abductors, she is yet to be traced and rescued.
He asked security forces to do their best and rescue Romano.
“This lady is innocent, it is unfortunate and saddening that almost two months after her abduction, she is still in hands of her captors,” Duale said.
The Garissa Township MP urged residents to volunteer information that will help security agencies rescue the aid worker.
Duale, however, cautioned security agents against harassing and intimidating innocent residents in the ongoing operation to rescue the aid worker.
He said that he has received concerns from Garissa residents of alleged harassment by the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF).
Romano was abducted on November 20 last year.
A major operation led by the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) is ongoing in efforts to rescue the aid worker.
There had been speculation that Romano’s abductors could be hiding in Garissa with the plan to cross over to neighboring Somalia.
