Musila and other politicians accused Kalonzo of being a burden to the community after he accepted to back ODM leader Raila Odinga in the the 2017 presidential race.

Others leaders who backed Musila included MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos Town), Rachael Nyamai (Kitui South) and Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East).

Both Kalonzo and Raila banked on the Kamba community's support in their attempt to rise to power during that time.

Before the campaigns, Uhuru and Ruto had tried to woo Kalonzo to join their camp but their efforts proved futile when he maintained that he was not going to make a U-turn as they expected.

Kalonzo stood with Raila, who was contesting for his fourth time for Presidency, but their fight didn't bear fruits.

The former Vice President has declared an interest in 2022 presidential race.

He has insisted that time has come for him to lead this nation.

Kalonzo opines that he is best suited to change this country as far as leadership is concerned.
