Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has reiterated his remarks that Deputy President William Ruto will be the next Head of State after President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Khalwale said among all seasoned politicians seeking the presidency; Raila Odinga (ODM), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi (ANC) and FORD-Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula, it was only Ruto who had all what it takes to take over from Uhuru in four years time.
Khalwale, who is Wetang'ula's deputy in FORD-Kenya, said the DP enjoys massive following compared to his opponents as indicated by the high number of counties which are alligned to his defunct URP outfit.
"My honest assessment is that Ruto, whether he is good or bad, is way much ahead of the rest. He starts the race with 16 counties on his side when some of them like Raila have four, Kalonzo three, Mudavadi zero and my party leader two as at the present standing," he told Sunday Standard.https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001300636/the-bull-fighter-is-gone
Asked why he thought Ruto was best suited person to succeed Uhuru, the vocal politician said: "So that Kenyans can have a fresh breath, and because he does not come from any dynasty, we will cast our lot with him."
Khalwale last week asked Kenyans to prepare for Ruto's presidency saying it would be difficult to defeat 'government in power'.
"All the citizens should re-think what I have said. William Ruto will be announced winner in 2022 even if you defeat him," he said speaking at Jamboni in Uasin Gishu County.https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/article/2001299878/boni-khalwale-supports-deputy-president-william-ruto-for-top-seat
