Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has ordered for an investigation into the compensation of Solai dam tragedy victims.
This is after reports emerged that government officials were involved in the payouts from the owner.
The CS was asked to explain why the government was not aware of the payouts whereas the dam owner Perry Mansuk has publicly stated that he released money to be paid through the County Commissioner.
During his appearance before the Senate Committee, Matiangi promised to hand over a report on the probe in the next 30 days, a period that the committee stated was too long.
The Senate Committee had earlier recommended that Matiangi suspends the Nakuru County Commissioner for complicity and collusion in regards to the dam tragedy.
