Biashara Member of County Assembly (MCA) Peter Njoroge alias Wanyaguthie was arrested for allegedly harassing traders over public toilets.
Njoroge was arrested for allegedly leading members of the public to harass owners of the public toilets at Lion’s Garden.
Thirteen other people were also arrested during the raid but his case was postponed on Monday when he was arraigned in court and he will appear in court on June 25.
Nakuru DCIO David Wangai said they are investigating the matter to ensure they have strong evidence to present in court when the case starts.
“The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) advised me to ensure thorough investigations before the accused can be arraigned,” said Wangai as quoted by Standard.
MCA Njoroge speaking on Tuesday denied leading the goons to raid and harass owners of the public toilets.
“I went to the police only to be told that I had something to do with the goons who caused disturbances at the toilet,” he said.
Mashambani Stage Self-help Group (MSSG), who claim ownership of the public toilets, claim Njoroge accompanied by goons raided the area where they have put up 14 public toilets.
“We pay taxes and rent to the county government. Last Thursday, they came, harassed employees, took our licences and assaulted the cashier,” claimed one of the MSSG members who sought anonymity.
