At Rangwe on Friday, Orengo maintained that Raila's reform credentials puts him at pole position to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.

“Raila has fought for multiparty democracy of this country and he is the person who can liberate Kenyans from economic problems facing us,” said Orengo.

Mr. Orengo l, who'd earlier this year opposed partnership between Uhuru and Raila, lauded the move adding that some government officials were keen to bring it down.

But in his speech in presence of Raila, Orengo further said Kenya must change governance system by embracing parliamentary system.

“We must undertake constitutional review to enable us have the parliamentary system. The country has undergone a lot of tribulations which can only be done away with through constitutional reforms,” said Orengo.

He had accompanied Raila to the burial of distinguished researcher Prof. Ouma Muga, a former Rangwe MP and assistant minister.

Raila, who dodged the debate, defended his decision to back the controversial Finance Bill 2018 that saw majority of MPs from either side opposing it.
