Emerging details indicate that Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o owes the county he leads.
According to a report filed by a task force nominated by the Governor on Friday, he is among individuals owing the government in unpaid land rates.
According to the report quoted by Standard, Governor Nyong'o owes the county Sh1,895,687 for a piece of land in Maseno.
The Prof has, however, come out to disown the report which also includes the name of other regional and national leaders.
These include founding Vice President Jaramogi Oginga Odinga and his eldest son and East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) member Oburu Oginga.
Nyong'o argues that the compilation which states that around 581 individuals, private and public entities owe the county billions in unpaid land rates was a simple draft piece mistakenly released for publication.
But board member Kennedy Hongo has come out in support of the same, noting that the list is authentic and should be worked on.
"Most of the names you see on the list have recurred in previous reports dating back to the 1970s and we want to know why,” Hongo was quoted by the Standard.
