In a video of the presentation, Ruto calls the hotel famous while chastising the Tourism CS for not mentioning it among famous hotels in Nairobi, leaving attendees of the event in stitches.

"If I were to give marks for the presentation ably made here by Najib, I would give him A for passion and I would still give him another A for the facts he laid out, including all the hotel brands in Nairobi that he mentioned even though he forgot to mention the famous Weston," Ruto says plunging the auditorium into laughter.

The hotel has been subject to public controversy with talk of it encroaching public land roiling social media chatter amid continuing demolition of structures deemed to be on public land.

Years back, primary school students were teargassed as the protested against the erection of a wall.
