Although Deputy President William Ruto is a frontrunner in the 2022 race to State House, he may fail to succeed his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, a Jubilee senator has said.
According to Jubilee Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura, there are politicians around the DP who are spoiling his chances of taking over power by making reckless remarks which are driving people away from Ruto.
Without mentioning names, Mwaura who lost nominations for the Ruiru Jubilee MP ticket ahead of last year's polls referred to Ruto's allies as 'young, inexperienced and using their mouths to think', warning that if they are not tamed they will cost him the presidency.
"Some people around Deputy President William Ruto are working very hard to reduce his chances of becoming President. They think with their mouths wide open and have no time to reflect on what they are saying. Young, inexperienced, mesmerized by power and the attention they receive, they are too quick to display their error of judgement, jumping for every bait thrown at them," Mwaura said in a Facebook post on Sunday.
His remarks come at a time when Ruto's right-hand man Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen has come under heavy criticism for linking Mau forest evictions to the handshake between President Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
Murkomen has been accused of referring to Uhuru as 'mkora', with some Jubilee Party leaders calling for his removal as the Senate Majority Leader.
"From his tone and comments, Murkomen should be relieved of his duties as Majority Leader immediately. He was throwing tantrums purporting to be angry because of the Mau evictions yet he went personal with the President. He is supposed to be the face and the voice of the government," Igembe North MP Maoka Maore told Sunday Nation.
