Residents of the Luo Nyanza county will go back to the polls slightly more than a year after electing their second senator, the late Ben Oluoch Okello.

Okello, a seasoned broadcaster died in June this year, after suffering from throat cancer.

Former Migori gubernatorial candidate Ochillo Ayacko has since been handed the ODM party ticket in a bid to replace the late Okello.

And on Thursday, Raila Odinga met a section of Members of Parliament from Migori at his Nairobi’s Capitol Hill office to drum up support for Mr. Ayacko.

The Standard reported that Odinga told the MPs present led by Suna East legislature Junet Mohamed to ensure that Ayacko wins the seat on October 8.

According to the report, Odinga told the MPs to go into campaigns strongly united in order to deliver the seat for Mr. Ayacko and the ODM party.
