On Saturday, Haji reiterated that the first-term governor violated the terms of bail after he was freed from police custody on December 11 following his arrest over the alleged misappropriation of Sh357 million belonging to the county government of Nairobi.

Sonko was released on a cash bail of Sh15 million.

The DPP now wants the bail cancelled so that he is jailed with immediate effect. Sonko has, however, defended his decision to nominate Anne Kananu Mwenda as his Deputy following the resignation of Polycarp Igathe.

Sonko insisted that he has done nothing unlawful after he made the appointed.

Haji has affirmed that the court blocked Sonko from discharging duties as governor.

"The court was clear on what Sonko cannot do. To purport to have the power to name a deputy while his case is still on is a violation of the bail terms given to him. We will move to court," Haji said.

The DPP application will be heard on January 15. Sonko opines that he is a law-abiding citizen after he was faulted over the decision after he was given freedom.
