In the meeting held at State House Mombasa, the head of state urged the CASs to work towards the betterment of the lives of the Kenyan people.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta has today urged the newly appointed Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS's) to work towards the betterment of the welfare of all Kenyans," State House wrote on its Twitter handle.

The head of state re-organised cabinet on Tuesday this week in what observers have described as an attempt to consolidate his legacy.

The cabinet reshuffle saw a number of cabinet secretaries moved to new ministries and the appointment of new Chief Administrative Secretaries who will be working hand in hand with the cabinet secretaries.

President Kenyatta is in his second and final term and is expected to hand over the instruments of power to the next head of state in 2022 even as calls grow stronger for the constitution to be amended so that he can run for office after the expiry of his tenure.
