Kenya's arguably strongest women Cabinet Secretaries are expected to exchange their offices, a week after President Uhuru Kenyatta's reshuffle.
Monica Juma will vacate Foreign Affairs for Raychelle Omamo, who has been serving as Defense Secretary.
On Wednesday, Omamo held her last function in DoD where she opened a space agency office in Nairobi.
In her speech, Omamo expressed her gratitude for officially gracing over the event adding that the journey to establish the Agency’s Headquarters has been long and winding and that the Agency is on the course to reaching their destination.
"Today we celebrate the progress made towards ensuring a conducive environment for our nascent space industry without losing focus on the task ahead of us in providing leadership for the space sector both locally and regionally,” said the CS.
Since 2013, she has served in the Defense department. Mrs Juma on the other hand, was elevated to CS in 2018 having served as PS.
Ambassador Juma has since bade farewell to her staff as she joins Defense department for the next couple of months.
Her last assignment at the ministry of foreign affairs was the UK-Africa summit, which President Uhuru Kenyatta attended.
"I bid farewell to the MFA staff in a meeting held at the KICC. I thanked them for their effective pursuit of our foreign policy which has secured Kenya a place of pride among the Community of Nations," she said.
"The state of our diplomacy is strong because of these patriotic, professional Kenyan diplomats at the Headquarters that support our missions across the world," she added.
