Police officers in Migori County are investigating an incident in which a man died after swallowing a substance believed to be poisonous following a quarrel with his wife.
The man, who was later identified as Charles Yogo, met his death while undergoing treatment at the St Joseph Ombo Mission Hospital in Migori town.
Attempts of the family to save his life after they found him lying unconscious did not bear fruits.
Confirming the incident, Suna Ragana Assistant Chief Christopher Owuo said that the deceased was found unconscious at his house located at Wuoth Ogik trading centre.
“Family members said they found Mr Yogo foaming in the mouth before they rushed him to hospital, he died while undergoing treatment,” said Mr Owuo, as quoted by Daily Nation.
The police boss also said that the man did not leave behind a suicide note before he decided to take his life.
The widow, Roselyn Akinyi, said that the man had lamented about stomach pain for some time and denied that he was the kind of man who could take his own life.
She said that they did their best to rush him for treatment but he died while at the facility where he was admitted.
His body was transferred to St Joseph Mission Hospital mortuary ahead of post mortem.
