Central Organisation of Trade Union Secretary General Francis Atwoli has rubbished claims that he is eyeing to join politics in the forthcoming 2022 general election.
Atwoli says he does not have any intention of joining politics as his agenda is to continue fighting for workers rights across the globe.
Speaking during a fundraiser for Lamu Women Sacco at the Mkunguni Square on Saturday, Atwoli said those propagating claims that he plans to join politics are being malicious.
"I have no plans of contesting for the member of county assembly, member of parliament, senator, governor or presidential seat in 2022 as some people are claiming," the COTU boss said.
Atwoli, however, said that he will be around to make sure that the right leaders are elected to office in 2022 and pledged to support President Uhuru Kenyatta's renewed fight against graft.
During the event televised live on Citizen TV, Atwoli continued his attacks on Deputy President William Ruto and accused him of allegedly showing no respect to his elders.
Atwoli also castigated Ruto for calling opposition leader Raila Odinga 'mganga' (witch).
The COTU boss who was in the company of Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho said that Ruto will not be on the presidential ballot in 2022.
In the past months, Atwoli and Ruto have been exchanging words over the forthcoming 2022 general election and push for a referendum.
DP Ruto is among top politicians eyeing to succeed president Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
