Lamu East MP Sharif Ali Athman said the DP will visit his constituency and meet the people of Lamu as he presides over inaugural opening of the newly constructed Pate Girls High School in Faza ward.

In a public notice, the lawmaker welcomed residents to attend the event, saying it will be a platform for them to meet their leaders publicly and get to hear the development plans still in progress for them.

Athman who was elected through Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) party, in July this year declared support for Ruto's 2022 presidential bid saying he will continue to do so.

He said DP Ruto has good leadership qualities which are not presented by any other politicians in the country.

Athman said Ruto is fit to lead the country and further called on other Coastal leaders and Kenyans at large to support Ruto and ensure he becomes the fifth president of Kenya.

Ruto's trip to Lamu County comes days after two ODM lawmakers from Kwale and Kilifi Counties were recommended for expulsion from the party over association with the DP over 2022 politics.

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori however, denied the claims saying they support Ruto in the spirit of building bridges initiative that was started by their party leader Raila Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta.
