A 28-year-old woman is nursing serious injuries at Nyamira County hospital after her husband attacked her over roast maize.
The incident happened on Saturday at Gekano in Manga, Nyamira County.
The woman identified as Olpha said her husband, Edward Ongoro, attacked her after she failed to roast maize for him.
“I had just returned home from the farm when my husband asked me to roast maize for him.
"I lit fire and went to the farm to bring maize for roasting but when I returned 10 minutes later, he attacked me on grounds that I had taken too long to roast maize for him,” she said.
Neighbors said they heard the woman crying before rescuing her while unconscious.
Area assistant chief Benson Michieka said the man will be arrested and be charged with assault.
He warned men against beating their wives saying the law will not spare them.
