The artist who is currently serving a jail term over the death of a former associate updated his Instagram bio with a quote which Kenyatta made on December 12, 1963, shortly after Kenya attained its independence from British imperialists.

"There will be nothing from heaven, We must all work.... to save ourselves from ignorance, poverty, and disease_ Jomo Kenyatta," the artist wrote.

The late head of state in his quote said that: "Many people may think that because now we have Uhuru, they can see the sun of freedom shining, richness will pour like manna from heaven. I tell you there will be nothing from heaven! we must all work with our hands to save ourselves from poverty, ignorance, and disease."

Besides Vybez Kartel, other Jamaican artists who have recognised Kenyatta and his contributions to the liberation of Kenya are the Morgan Heritage and wailing souls.

In October 2015 during the extravaganza show, the Morgan brothers gave praises to Jomo Kenyatta and his son Uhuru Kenyatta.

Gramps and Peter Morgan praised Uhuru's leadership saying that he borrowed much from his dad.

"If there is one leader we salute in Jamaica, it is Jomo Kenyatta, we salute his son Uhuru Kenyatta who's the president of the Republic of Kenya," Peter Morgan said.
