The incident comes just four days to Madaraka Day fete which will be hosted in Narok County for the first time in history. Several leaders among them Raila Odinga and DP William Ruto are expected to attend.

Last weekend, a host of Narok leaders led by Narok East MP Lemanken Aramat piled pressure on Odinga to record statement over fake gold scandal.

“If someone has confirmed that he actually travelled and met the UAE ruler over fake gold, then the DCI should do his work. If they were indeed whistle blowers, why are they panicking?” said Aramat Lemanken as quoted by the Standard.

The ODM party condemned the attacks, adding that Kenyans should exercise tolerance and respect for one another. His vehicle was pelted with stones.

"We wish to condemn in the strongest terms possible the attack on our Narok County Chairman Charles Nampaso last night by goons moments after taking part in a radio talk show at Sidai FM in Narok town. The party calls on Kenyans to exercise tolerance and respect for each other," the party said in a statement.

For the last two presidential elections, Mr Odinga has easily won majority of votes in Narok County despite his party winning few seats. Senator Ledama Ole Kina was elected on the party ticket.

Saturday's event will see Mr Odinga and Dr Ruto sharing podium for the first time in as many months. They have been going ballistic against each other.
