Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti has been dragged into high octane politics with a section of MPs accusing him of being used by 'conmen' to bring down Deputy President William Ruto.
On Sunday, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi, in a video making rounds in social media, is heard castigating the DCI, insisting that he's being used to witch-hunt people believed to be Ruto's supporters from their offices.
"I want to tell DCI Kinoti that he's hypocritical in graft war. He is being used by certain people to bring down William Ruto. He is harassing people believed to be Ruto's supporters in various offices," he says.
Sudi, a close ally of DP Ruto adds: "Bungling people of of office using vendetta will come to haunt you. You will be used like Samuel Kivuitu and your bosses will abandon you. Our prayers will not go down."
Mr Kinoti, who was appointed to the office last year, has received accolades in his fight against graft and President Uhuru Kenyatta, who had visited Murang'a last week, said he was doing 'a good job'.
For the last one week, Kinoti has summoned several directors of companies who are believed to have been paid for supplying various items for construction of Sh65 billion Kimwarer and Aror dams.
But the move hasn't gone down well with the DP William Ruto, who insists that no money had been lost in the contract despite preliminary investigations by Mr Kinoti that shows over Sh21 billion could have been misappropriated.
At the same event, Governor Jackson Mandago is heard opposing the merger of KAA and KQ, a move that has also been ignited in parliament.
