Unfortunately, most leaders elected on the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) tickets in this region are considered opposition chief Raila Odinga's allies.

It's always very easy to pick out real allies of Odinga in this region where he adds up as the kingpin, simply by looking at their moves and how serious they are in their operations.

On the other hand, people who are not really his allies but are in office on his name include the county governors, most of whom are always absent when he needs them.

Okoth Obado (Migori), Cyprian Awiti (Homa Bay), Cornel Rasanga (Siaya) and Kisumu's Peter Nyong'o are never around when Raila is under pressure from rivals.

Instead, they have always snubbed him, leaving the job to the likes of Suna East lawmaker Junet Mohammed and his likes, who are honestly his real allies.

Most people also confuse all leaders from Nyanza as Raila's insiders, forgetting that there exists a number who do not even have any touch with the former Prime Minister.

These include Obado who in September repeatedly defied Raila and ODM's choice of Ochillo Ayacko for the Migori Senatorial seat by-elections and Kisumu West lawmaker Olago Aluoch.

Aluoch is in office on the Ford Kenya ticket and is an ally of the party leader and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula.

Also in the list are all failed elected leaders who will make it hard for Raila to realize his presidential bid should he vie again in the approaching 2022 polls.

This is because though he is likely to get the Nyanza vote, the rest if the nation will use development in his backyard to measure his abilities to deliver.

Their failure will deny him the seat, and they do not deserve to be called his allies.
