The government seeks to use the exercise, which will for the first time be held at night, to get the data which to be used for planning and organization going ahead.

But Mutura claims that while the government will have the details and numbers at the end of the analysis of the data, Kenyans will never get to learn about the actual findings.

He blamed the same on the possible aftermath of the release, saying that it will intensify ethnic balkanization now that politicians are depending on the numbers to plan their moves ahead of the 2022 polls.

He claimed that others, especially governors, are banking on the numbers to push for extra allocations on grounds that they have bigger populations, which will end up in their own pockets through corruption.

"These results will never because of the manner in which politicians are waiting for them to trade with the numbers (Hizi results hazitawahi toka kwa sababu ukiangalia vile wanasiasa wanangojea wakitaka kupiga biashara na watu)," he said.

He made the remarks during an interview on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi on Saturday.

Mutura also lashed out at governors who have been pressuring Kenyans to troop back to their ancestral counties for the exercise, terming the same wrong.

The ex-legislator noted that by so doing, they will return to demand for resources where they were not counted, leading to insufficiency.

"By telling people to cross over to Kakamega from Nairobi,  to be counted, you are causing problems back in Nairobi (Ukiambia mtu atoke Nairobi aje Kakamega kuhesabiwa huko Nairobi pia umeleta shida)," he added.

Governors on record asking people to troop back for the counting include Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega) and Wilbur Otichilo (Vihiga).
