Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen on Saturday said a section of Deputy President William Ruto's allies, will only engage in the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) after ODM and its leadership apologise over Kibra by-election violence.
Speaking on Saturday in Kericho, Murkomen said they would not engage in the BBI process unless the violence that was reported in Kibra constituency during the by-election is renounced.
"We want to say categorically like I said last week, we will not continue to discuss matters BBI and handshake going forward until the master of violence renounces the violence that happened in Kibra and asks for forgiveness so that we can go forward," he said. (6:08-6:29)
Murkomen spoke just a day after President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted political leaders from the Mount Kenya region at the Sagana State lodge.
The president said the by-election had been, by and large peaceful, a statement which appears to contradict the position of the DP and his allies.
According to Ruto and his allies, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was behind the violence that was witnessed in Kibra.
ODM has rubbished calls for a public apology, saying it has nothing to apologise for.
