The seven-year-old Geoffrey Otieno's body was recovered from a bush near Pap-Komenya after a two-day search.

Confirming the recovery, area Assistant Chief Mannase Osuri said that the body of the deceased had begun decaying by the time it was found.

He said that it was discovered when members of the public were attracted to the thicket by a foul smell emanating from the spot.

They then proceeded to alert the police who arrived at the scene and took over.

According to the administrator, the body might have been dumped at the place after the boy was murdered elsewhere.

He added that the genitals of the body were missing after being probably being chopped off, adding that the police have launched a probe into the matter and are pursuing the perpetrators of the crime.

“The motive behind the small boy’s murder has not yet been established. We suspect that the boy might have been murdered elsewhere before his body was brought and dumped in that bush," he told Radio Ramogi on Monday as quoted by Citizen Digital.

The body was successfully identified by relatives.

It was moved to the Bondo Sub County Hospital Mortuary pending the conclusion of investigations.
