Ailing Deputy Governor Amos Nyaribo jetted back to the country on Tuesday ahead of his brother's burial scheduled on Monday.
Mr. Nyaribo, who served as acting governor from May to July this year in absence of John Nyagarama, underwent a major kidney operation in India.
He was admitted at a New Delhi hospital in August and has been under treatment since then, with his condition believed to be 'uncertain'.
A source from Gubernatorial Press Service said Nyaribo is 'too weak and it's unclear whether he will attend the funeral or not'.
"The governor visited the home of the DG's brother Robert Nyaribo and condoled with them. The burial will be on Monday.
"Deputy Governor arrived on Tuesday but his condition is still not good. He looks feeble and it's not clear whether he will attend the funeral," said the source, who did not wish to be named.
Mr. Robert Nyaribo died in Nyamira County Referral Hospital a couple of weeks ago after battling with illness for a long time.
In a video call last week, Nyaribo denied claims that he had undergone kidney transplant, adding that it was a 'major operation'.
A section of locals had raised fears over his health conditions with some speculating that the condition could be acute.
He comes at the time the county is struggling with cases of corruption, maladministration and incompetence, precipitating to online slaught from a section of locals.
