In a video making rounds on social media, Ruto is heard warning President Uhuru Kenyatta over partnership with Raila Odinga, adding that Mr Odinga and his Nyanza supporters are known for destruction.

"These people telling us a lot of stories think that we do know them. They see destructive. If they don't destroy parties, they destroy houses," Dr Ruto said.

"If not houses, they go for railway. And if not railways, they destroy friendship. These are people who we know. For what purpose are we entertaining them for?"

But what could have been a mere rebuttal against his competitors is now haunting Ruto's team, with a section of ODM diehards accusing of profiling a community from Nyanza in which ODM enjoys following.

"But why would DP Ruto hold so much hate against a whole community? Wan kaka Luos OK wabosecho kendo ngato ok bo bwogowa gi thuol mothoo," wrote a furious Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, tagging the viral video.

"The “US” vs “THEM” politics DP Ruto is playing is very very DANGEROUS || ⁦@JunetMohamed⁩ ," added Seth Odongo, a former ODM Deputy Director of Communications.

Some asked Dr Ruto to take responsibility, arguing that he's out to cause divisions within the country. Dr Ruto was referring to ODM supporters and the party at large which is associated with violence.

"This dangerous talk, @WilliamsRuto. If you want to kill all Luos tell us which shooting range we should parade ourselves in you finish the job very fast. You aren't fit to be President of Kenya with this kind of warmongering. This country isn't safe under your leadership," said Gabriel Oguda.
