Residents of Mwendo wa Panya village in Mtepeni ward, Kilifi South Constituency have been left homeless after a private investor descendent on their houses with bulldozers, demolition any structure.
Two bulldozers demolished over 400 households, evicting over 200 families on Friday morning, as armed police took guard.
The incident saw at least three people rushed to hospital. They fainted after seeing their houses being flattened.
The village sits on 24-acre piece of land in Kanamai which stretches to the beach front.
The land has been at the centre of a dispute between a private developer and squatters.
The case has been lying in court and a ruling was to be made on December 6, 2018 according to Governor Amason Kingi, who arrived at the scene and condemned the demolitions.
The bulldozers did not spare schools and churches, creating huge losses amounting to millions of money.According to area MCA Victor Mwaganda, a court issued locals with a stay order but the developers ignored saying it was fake.
“I showed the man in charge of the demolitions the court order in the morning but he said it was fake went on with the demolitions," Mwaganda said.
The affected residents who included children, cursed the demolitions and called on the County government's help.
