Sonko had declared that he would name a deputy governor as soon as he comes back from Mombasa.

Speaking on TV last Wednesday, Sonko said:

“Tukirudi Nairobi, nakuja na full cabinet nakuja na Deputy Governor,” he said Sonko.

This loosely translates to: When we get back to Nairobi, I will come with the full cabinet and a deputy governor.

However, Sonko on Friday postponed the naming of his deputy saying that he had received a request from NASA coalition to consider their candidate Rahab Wangui.

This wasn’t received well with Nairobians who came out in numbers to attack Sonko. Here is what Nairobians said:

“Mike Sonko awache kubeba watu wana, he's consulting with his competitors?” asked No name

“Mike Sonko has perfected the art of buying time and controlling emotions of the gullible public. It's 1 yr without DG. Having Deputy Governor isn't a priority for Sonko. Consultations with NASA remains hot air. The mess in Nairobi can't be solved by filling DG position, focus!” said Retired Comrade.

“A deputy governor's salary per year can run a light useful project to help few poor kenyans Mike Sonko,” said Nyanganya James Lee.

“Won't be surprised when Mike Sonko, chooses Rahab Wangui as his deputy governor in the name of extending the handshake,” said Joseph Nai

“The problem in Nairobi County is not the absence of the Deputy Governor BUT the presence of the current Governor who is Mike Sonko. Sonko just called for a Press Conference in a Mombasa 5 star hotel to name his Cabinet yet he is Nairobi's Governor. Nairobi has a leadership vacuum,” said Kijana Wa Facts.
