For the better part of Monday, drama ensued when two nominated MCAs openly clashed as the heated argument degenerated into abuses and near- fight.
Mr. Abel Mose (ODM) and Lilian Nyamweya (ANC) reportedly differed on an issue in their WhatsApp group before exchanging bitterly in the assembly in the presence of Speaker Moffat Teya.
Angered by her colleague's conduct, Ms. Nyamweya reported the matter to the police who would later arrest the ODM legislator.
But an intervention by the speaker saw authorities releasing the accused as the matter was being handled by Powers and Privileges Committee.
The committee on Wednesday resolved that each pay a fine of Sh100,000 for breach of conduct, a figure which would be reduced to zero following the debate on the floor of the house on Wednesday.
"Mr. Speaker, the figure is huge given that it was a minor disagreement. This is a matter that as members we can handle.
"It should be reduced to zero. We cannot punish them just for a small disagreement which did not even degenerate into fight," argued George Mosiori.
Overpowered by the pressure, the speaker, who also chairs the committee, reduced the figure to zero as agreed by MCAs.
The two are said to have been reunited by a section of their colleagues and the speaker at a private function on Wednesday.
