Malindi lawmaker Aisha Jumwa has accused Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi and his Mombasa counterpart Hassan Joho of failing to fight for the rights of their people.
Speaking in Kilifi on Friday, Jumwa accused the two governors of betraying the people they ought to be representing by 'worshipping Raila Odinga and the ODM party' at the expense of transforming the region.
"There is no leader in Kilifi county who is advancing the agenda of the people of this county. What Kingi and his team are doing is to worship the party and one person," said Jumwa.
The vocal legislator argued that Joho has become silent after 'joining' President Uhuru Kenyatta's side, accusing him of forgetting the people he should be fighting for.
"Joho used to be vocal in addressing the grievances of our people but has now forgotten about it and is following the President. He said he will no longer stand to abuse the president, there is no problem, but that does not mean you cannot defend our people as you used to do before," said Jumwa.
The vocal MP further alleged that the ODM party gave residents fake promises despite the support they have received from the Coast region for years.
"We have supported Raila for 15 years and we have gotten nothing. We were promised to get the EALA position but it was given to Oburu Odinga, Kingi knows this but has remained mum," she said.
Jumwa is said to be eyeing the Kilifi gubernatorial seat in 2022.
