This follows a standoff between some Members of County Assembly (MCAs) and some members of the County Assembly Education Committee.

The MCAs and the county and the county assembly education committee are at war with each other over the composition of the panel responsible for sharing the money.

Education CeC Obiero Ogone confirmed on Tuesday that a meeting had been called to resolve the standoff which may result in delayed scholarships for students.

“We want the committees and leaders and even parents to understand that we are resource-constrained. We want to make them understand the allocation procedure,” he stated.

A total of 350 students who are set to join Form One in various secondary schools will benefit from the scholarship programme.

Each ward in the county is supposed to enrol 10 students in the programme.

The county administration has, nonetheless, maintained that the implementation of the scholarship programme will not be interfered with.

Deputy Governor Ochieng Owili further pointed out that the funds for bursaries had been raised from Sh2 million per ward to Sh4 million.

“We have done this to meet the growing numbers of bright and needy students across the county who are in need of a scholarship," he stated.
