Rongai lawmaker Raymond Moi has claimed that he too would be interested in occupying the presidential seat in the coming days.
Speaking in Ngata, Nakuru county on Saturday, Raymond, son of retired President Daniel Moi, hit out at politicians piling too much pressure on Kenyans to back their presidential bids for the 2022 general polls.
In an apparent reference to Deputy President William Ruto, he said that people should stop thinking that they are the only ones interested in the seat, as there are many more.
Raymond noted that Kenyans cannot keep being reminded about one person's political interests, yet there are many more eyeing the same seat but are silent.
"Is it only one person who wants to be the president of Kenya? Even Raymond wants to (Kwani ni mtu moja tu anataka kuwa rais wa Kenya hii? Si hata Raymond anataka kuwa rais?)," he posed in part of a video shared on Standard website.
He spoke during the burial of Cecilia Chelangat, mother to Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's personal assistant Kenneth Mibei.
Raymond said that the reminders about 2022 are unnecessary while adding that his brother, Gideon, who has also been associated with the presidential race, will declare his plans at the right time.
"The time will soon reach for you to know which alliance he will be in. (Wakati itakuja tu karibuni ndio msikie hata yeye ako mrengo gani)," he said.
But when he took the podium, the KANU leader steered off political issues, taking the opportunity to condole with the bereaved family.
