Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho has sent a message of condolence to family, friends and relatives of late National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) vice-chairperson Fatuma Tabwara.
In his message of condolence, Joho said Twabara's death is a big loss for the nation,
"I have learnt with deep shock the passing on of National Cohesion and Integration Commission vice chairperson Fatuma Tabwara. My condolences to the family, friends and the Country.
"It is only two weeks ago that I interacted with the late Fatuma when she together with her fellow commissioners paid me a courtesy call. We have lost a dedicated and visionary leader. May the Almighty God rest her soul in eternal peace. Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji'u," he posted.
President Uhuru Kenyatta had appointed her to assume the office of NCIC vice-chairperson on November 20, 2019, before she met her death barely a month into office.
Twabara collapsed and died while attending a wedding at Kombani, Kwale County. She was rushed to the Diani Beach Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Before her appointment to NCIC, Twabara served as a political advisor to Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya.
