Besides President Uhuru Kenyatta's last-minute intervention to thwart Fred Matiang'i's resignation plans, new details have emerged on the shock move.
It took Uhuru's efforts on Wednesday to dissuade the Interior Cabinet Secretary from dropping his decision.
But before that, Solicitor General Ken Ogeto and Lawyer Evans Monari had given their unsolicited advise that encouraged Matiang'i to rescind his decision.
"He has reached his trusted allies Ken Ogeto and Evans Monari over the matter.
"They actually advised him against the move. By the time Uhuru called, he had already changed mind," said a source who did not wish to be mentioned.
Among the issues that pressed Matiang'i to the core include perceived animosity with his colleagues within the cabinet.
Lands CS Farida Karoney and her education counterpart Amina Mohammed had openly contradicted the minister over controversial purchase of Sh3.2 billion Ruaraka land.
