Mrs Moi, Kenya's second First Lady, stayed a quiet life after separating from President Daniel Moi moments after 1982 attempted coup in which Kenya Air Force personnel tried to overthrow the president.

Coming from a Christian family in Baringo, Lenah spent most of her life in Church doing charity work before her death in 2010 in which Moi attended.

And for Gideon, a lead presidential candidate in 2022 elections, the Chebonei trip rekindled memories of his mother. He vowed to ensure the school is given maximum support.

"In the company of Hon. Isaac Rutto, Baringo Woman Rep. Gladwell Tungo and other leaders in Bomet to officially open the newly constructed Chebonei Girls High School Tuition Block and pool our resources together to build them a library."

"The expansion of key infrastructural capacities in our academic institutions is continuously easing congestion and thus providing an enabling environment for learning," said Mr Moi.

Mr Moi said he will ensure a family representative is Incorporated in the Board of Management for easy reconnection. He also said Kabarak High School has been cooperating with the school.

"To deepen the already existing relationship with Chebonei Girls High School in Bomet, I will personally ensure that we have a representative at the Board of Management to create the link between our family and the school. My late mother Lena Moi studied here and the school's prosperity is also our prosperity," said Moi.

He addee: "I am glad that Kabarak High School Principal has promised that the school will continue collaborating with Chebonei Girls High School for even better results."
