Migori Governor Okoth Obado on Tuesday evening made a raft of changes in his cabinet where two top officials were fired.
Those axed were Trade Executive Committee Member Elizabeth Ochaye and Education Chief Officer Marwa Muniko.
The cabinet mini-reshuffle came days after the Migori Senatorial by-election in which Ochilo Ayacko who Obado opposed won with a margin of about 15,000 votes against Eddy Oketch who the county chief supported.
Ochaye and Muniko are said to have taken an active role in campaigning for Ayacko, the man Obado de-campaigned because of the manner in which he was handpicked by the ODM party to run for the by-election.
Ayacko is a close confidant of opposition leader Raila Odinga who rallied support for the former cabinet minister within the ODM party as well as back in Migori during campaigns.
If Ochaye and Muniko are Ayacko's close political associates, then the two must have received Raila's and ODM's blessings to go ahead and campaign for the ODM candidate.
Obado is on record having said recently that there is a huge crocodile within the ODM party that is threatening to swallow him politically.
The crocodile analogy is synonymous with Raila who claims that the opposition NASA's quest to reach the promised land 'Canaan' was thwarted after NASA leaders and their supporters met a swam of crocodiles at River Jordan, making it difficult to cross over to 'Canaan'.#hivisasaoriginal
