Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has denied claims that he is out to spoil Kalonzo's votes alongside dividing the Kamba community ahead of 2022 polls.
Kibwana said he is being fought for his push to have democracy in Wiper party.
The governor said he has never abused Kalonzo or lost respect for him as alleged by a section of Wiper leaders.
He criticized former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama for making claims that he made calls seeking to politically 'finish' Kalonzo.
"If being abused could kill someone, I would be dead by now. I have never abused Kalonzo. Muthama said I called telling him that we should finish Kalonzo which is total lies, I can't remember the last time I spoke to him," Kibwana said.
Kibwana addressed the press in Makueni on Thursday.
"I know Muthama, you can never plan anything with him and he heeds. When I studied and knew him, I distanced myself from him," he added.
The governor said he hasn't been answering the insults hurled at him since he had been advised to keep quiet.
"People approached me including religious leaders and asked me not to engage in the fight of words, that's why I was quiet. So, my nemesis thought I'm scared," Kibwana said.
Kibwana said he will always consult Makueni electorates before making the decision to support anybody politically.
He said Makueni County has been Wiper party's stronghold hence those who hurl insults at him should think twice.
