A report of the postmortem conducted on the body of Simon Gitaru, a prisoner at a Naivasha prison, has come up with grim findings.
The report authored by the government pathologist Titus Ndulungu found that the prisoner died as a result of being hit by a blunt object.
His body was found to have been riddled with marks consistent with being hit by a blunt object.
Findings of the report are in contradiction with the claims of prison authorities who claim Mr Gitaru died of pneumonia.
Gitaru's family has vowed to press charges against prison authorities in Naivasha in an attempt to seek justice for him.
Speaking to the media on Monday, his distraught father said the family was present when the postmortem was done.
He said that Gitaru's liver, kidney and intestines were damaged.
"We were there when the postmortem was done. If you look, you will see that the kidney is damaged, the liver is damaged. All the stomach parts were damaged. (Tulikuwa happy akichinjwa. Ukiangalia unaona figo iko na shida, Maino iko na kasoro. Kwa hivyo vitu ya tumbo yote ilikuwa imeumia)," Gitaru's father told the media after the postmortem findings were released.
Burial arrangements for Gitaru are ongoing.
