Muturi, who is serving his second term as speaker, was elected at the 49th CPA Conference on Tuesday at Gaborone, Botswana.

In his speech, Muturi, who once served as Siakago MP, promised to champion for the continent's ideals.

"I am immensely honoured by your endorsement of my leadership today by electing me the chairperson.

"I take this opportunity to assure you that for the next three years, I shall uphold the high esteem of the position of the trust to which you have elevated me," he said in his acceptance speech.

The honour comes at the time he's fighting to restore sanity in parliament which has been rocked in bribery claims.

Last week, a section of MPs claimed that their colleagues were bribed Sh10, 000 to reject a report on contraband sugar.
