National Assembly Leader of Majority Aden Duale has asked women to wake up and fight for their democratic space.
Duale wants women to stop waiting for two the two-thirds Gender Bill, saying it might never be realised.
Speaking at Garissa Boys High School on Saturday, Duale noted that efforts to pass the two-thirds Gender Bill into law have proved futile.
"If women want to lead, then they must be ready to compete because the two-thirds Bill has been collapsing every time it is tabled in the House," Duale said in a video posted on his Twitter handle.
Duale said that there is nothing that can be done if the majority of the House is not ready to pass the bill.
The Garissa MP has been pushing for the passing of the bill which has flopped four times for lack of quorum in the House.
President Kenyatta has been lobbying MPs to pass the gender Bill into law.
Meanwhile, Duale has rubbished off threats that Parliament can be dissolved for failing to pass the bill.
"I heard a judge say that the Parliament will be dissolved if we do not pass the two-thirds Gender Bill. Parliament cannot be dissolved just because we did not put women in the House," he added.
A section of women leaders is pushing Duale to re-table the bill into the House and they have threatened to oppose referendum push if it is not passed into law.
