The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) board has appointed a new Director General.
Mamo B Mamo was on Wednesday appointed in acting capacity to replace Geoffrey Wahungu who is one of the suspects in the multi-billion Arror and Kimwarer dams saga.
Wahumgu is accused of overseeing the issuance of environmental approval in the Kimwarer dam project, yet not feasibility study had been conducted.
Until his appointment, Mamo served as Deputy Director Environmental Education, Information and Public Participation in NEMA.
"The NEMA Board of Management has appointed Mr Mamo B. Mamo as the Acting Director General. This followed the arraignment in court of the current DG," NEMA tweeted.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich, his Principal Secretary Thugge Kamau, and a number of government officials were also arrested over their links to the matter.
The arrests came after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji said he has enough evidence against them.
Rotich has since been replaced by Ukur Yatani in acting capacity.
